From Forchnerhof in Rodeneck, the Gitschberg Jochtal ski and holiday area is quickly accessible: In summer, Gitschberg and Jochtal combine family-friendly mountain experiences with 37 managed huts and alpine pastures. In winter, both mountain sides merge into a single ski area – with Vals, Meransen, and the unspoiled Pfunderer Valley waiting in between.

Two Mountains Full of Family Adventures
On Gitschberg, everything in the Sun Park revolves around the sun – with a giant slide, sun bridge, and sun telephone. In Vals/Jochtal, the stroller-friendly adventure park leads from 2,008 meters towards Steinermandl: marble runs, a water park, climbing deer, a balance course, and other play stations make the journey itself a family destination.
Mountain Holiday with Added Value Included
Guests of Forchnerhof receive the Brixen South Tyrol Guest Pass. With it, you can travel free of charge on regional trains and buses throughout South Tyrol. In selected seasons, one ascent and descent on Gitschberg or Jochtal is also included daily.
Gitschberg Jochtal Ski Area
2 Mountain Sides. 1 Territory.
Since the construction of the connecting lift, Gitschberg and Jochtal form a joint ski area. Today, between 1,307 and 2,510 meters, there are 55 kilometers of slopes, 25 runs, and 15 lifts. Three children’s worlds and the Gimmy Fun Ride perfectly complement the offerings for families.
Fane Alm – The South Tyrolean Alm Village
At the head of the Vals valley lies the Fane Alm: a secluded alpine village with managed wooden huts, hay barns, and a small church. From here, paths lead deeper into the Pfunderer Mountains – for example, to the Brixner Hütte and the Wilden See at 2,532 meters, South Tyrol’s deepest mountain lake at 46 meters.
From Astjoch to the Three-Thousander
The mountain world around Gitschberg and Jochtal ranges from panoramic hiking mountains to the Pfunderer Three-Thousanders. The “Big Five” include Astjoch, Seefeldspitze, Eidechsspitze, Napfspitze, and the 3,132-meter-high Wilde Kreuzspitze – accordingly, the tours are diverse for leisurely hikers and experienced mountaineers.
